Clinical assessment, review of medical records and a clear definition of the next steps.
Breast surgery · Milan
Fondazione IRCCSDirector ofWhere Italian oncology was born,
to shape the future of breast care.

My commitment
For more than thirty years, I have focused on the prevention, diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast disease. Every pathway begins with listening and is developed together with the patient, integrating clinical experience, research and multidisciplinary discussion.
Clinical practice
Clinical assessment, review of medical records and a clear definition of the next steps.
Oncologically safe choices with careful attention to functional and aesthetic outcomes.
Up-to-date approaches for accurate staging with the lowest possible impact.
Personalised pathways for people with a genetic predisposition or significant family history.
Integrated planning of cancer surgery and reconstruction, based on clinical indications and the patient’s preferences.
Personalised assessment and prophylactic surgery for people at high genetic or familial risk.
Diagnosis and surgical treatment within a dedicated multidisciplinary pathway.
Specialist assessment of uncommon or complex breast diseases.
Targeted localisation and surgery, combining oncological precision with preservation of healthy tissue.
Personalised diagnostic and surgical pathways developed by a multidisciplinary team to protect mother and baby.
Specialist surgical care that respects each person’s identity and individual care pathway.
Diagnosis and surgical planning for breast sarcomas within a dedicated multidisciplinary approach.
For patients
Practical guidance helps patients approach consultations and surgery with greater confidence. Instructions from the treating hospital always take priority over general information.
Bring recent imaging, previous breast reports, pathology results, a list of medications and any records relating to previous surgery or treatment.
Pre-operative tests and instructions on medication, fasting and admission are provided by the treating hospital. Always follow the centre’s specific guidance.
Recovery depends on the procedure. At discharge, patients receive personalised advice about pain control, wound care, arm movement, follow-up and warning signs.

A great history.
A new responsibility.
Breast Surgery at INT
Leading Breast Surgery at the National Cancer Institute means returning to a place where a fundamental part of Italian breast oncology began. My commitment is to preserve this heritage and turn it into the future: broader access, measurable quality, stronger research and true teamwork.
A coordinated pathway that respects each patient’s history, priorities and preferences.
Close collaboration across surgery, radiology, pathology, medical oncology, radiotherapy, genetics and plastic surgery.
Clinical practice generates questions; research turns those questions into better care and new knowledge.
Volumes, waiting times, outcomes and patient experience guide continuous improvement.
Scientific research
My scientific work focuses on breast cancer surgery, sentinel lymph node management, conservative treatment, Day Surgery pathways, rare presentations and the integration of clinical care with translational research.
